Community Presentation on Narcan

WVU Medicine and the WVU Health Sciences Center Eastern Campus will host a free community educational discussion on naloxone, also known as Narcan.

Narcan Talk, presented by John W. Aldis, M.D., A.A.F.P., M.P.H., will be held on April 22 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the WVU Health Sciences Center on the Berkeley Medical Center campus.

Narcan is a medication that is used to treat individuals suffering from an overdose. Dr. Aldis will review the rules, procedures and use of Narcan as well as important information on follow-up after the drug is administered.

This discussion will be helpful for anyone close to addiction – family members, patients, and providers dealing with addiction.  Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive a certificate of attendance which may be helpful in getting a prescription of the drug’s generic version.

While he will not be able to dispense Narcan to members of the audience, Aldis will offer all attendees a prescription for Narcan nasal spray which can be filled at any local pharmacy
