It is a hearbreaking tragedy what the people of Butte County, CA and the surrounding areas are experiencing with the 2018 Camp Fire, the deadliest wild fire the state of California has seen. The fire has caused scores of fatalities with hundreds still missing, and more than 11,000 homes destroyed. Recovery is expected to take years. It’s hard to sit back and watch so many lives be so tragically affected and so many natural lands be destroyed without wanting to do something. That is why we will be hosting a fun run for the community on Tuesday, December 4th. Tickets will be for sale via eventbrite at the cost of $10 per person with the intention of 100% of the proceeds to be given back to The California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund. We will also provide a post race community raffle give away with donations from local businesses and vendors. Two Rivers Treads will match the proceeds collected from the event and raffle give away, up to $500.
Even if you can’t attend the run, please consider purchasing a ticket as all proceeds will go directly to The California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund. This Foundation supports intermediate and long-term recovery efforts for major California wildfires, as well as preparedness efforts. Grants from the Wildfire Relief Fund have supported those who were displaced or lost housing, belongings and/or employment, or suffered physical or mental health problems; helped to rebuild homes; provided case management services, basic needs assistance, mental health services and financial assistance; upgraded 2-1-1 phone and information system; assisted California wildfire victims with follow-up medical care and supplies; provided respiratory equipment and information to people with lung disease; educated homeowners about green rebuilding; and provided disaster preparedness information.
