WVU Medicine Jefferson Medical Center will host its seventh annual Community Baby Shower and diaper drive on June 1 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Mothers and fathers-to-be as well as new moms and dads are invited to celebrate new life and parenthood by attending this free educational event, to be held in the first floor conference room at Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson.
“The purpose of the Community Baby Shower is to help expectant and new families learn about topics that are important to the health and well-being of new babies,” Tasheema Bullock, obstetrics clinical coordinator, said.
According to Bullock, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with Jefferson Medical Center professionals and community representatives to get answers to questions regarding all aspects of pregnancy to birth, to baby and beyond.
Information will be provided along with door prizes and refreshments. Community vendors will also be on site with information and giveaways. Vendors include Jefferson Medical Center ultrasound, car seat checks courtesy of Berkeley Medical Center trauma services, LifeSeen Photography, Shenandoah Valley WV WIC, Health and Safety CPR and First Aid, Pampered Chef, DoTerra Essential Oils, Usborne Books and Thirty One.
Expecting moms will have the opportunity to tour the OB unit at Jefferson Medical Center and to have an ultrasound picture taken of their baby, courtesy of the hospital’s radiology department.
For the second year, the community baby shower will include a diaper drive. Vendors, attendees and staff are being asked to donate diapers for the event. The Jefferson Medical Center OB department hopes to fill an empty crib with diapers to then donate to Birthright of Jefferson County.
